CaptureThis week, we held our annual open evening for prospective parents. This event is always a fantastic opportunity to open our doors and showcase to the local community all that we do as a school.

We were thrilled to welcome over 1,400 people through our doors. The high attendance was wonderful to see and the feedback we've received has been particularly positive, with many visitors commenting on the warmth and confidence of our pupils. For me the most heartening  aspect was that over 270 pupils stayed after school to act as ambassadors, enthusiastically leading tours and sharing their personal experiences. This is a great testament to the pride that they have in their school community.

I will be writing to parents soon about the relaunch of our school Voluntary Fund. This fund is for voluntary financial contributions from parents, with the money raised being used to enrich our pupils' school experience and ensure that we can continue to go beyond what schools ordinarily do. The funds will be spent on "extras" that directly benefit our students, and are not used to fund any aspect of academic delivery.

Enjoy the sunshine!

This will be a great opportunity to hear about life in our Sixth Form, meet the teaching staff and learn more about the subjects we have to offer at A Level.

ParentPay fraudulent app

We have been alerted to a fraudulent app in the Apple App Store that mimics ParentPay branding. Please be aware that ParentPay does not have an app available for download from any app stores. To use ParentPay, parents should visit www.parentpay.com from a mobile phone or computer.

GoGuardian Parent App

Many parents/carers know that we use the GoGuardian software to look after pupils online when they are using their TKA-managed Chromebook. There is also a Parent App that can be used to filter web browsing on Chromebooks when not at school. Parents will be able to block additional sites and turn Internet access off completely. There is no additional cost for the GoGuardian Parent App as it is part of our existing licensing agreement.

To get started with the Parent App, please see the GoGuardian help article. It is available for iOS and Android. Parents/carers will need to authenticate in the app with the registered guardian email address that we have on record.

Chromebook Hardware

Replacement Chromebooks are available to buy throughout the year at a reduced rate compared to the initial purchase. This is because the software licences are already paid for. However, we would like to offer parents/carers of current pupils the opportunity to purchase a new CR11 Chromebook as part of our Autumn device refresh. We may be able to get a better price for you when we order in bulk. Also, this year we have started supplying a transparent hard case to our new joiners instead of the soft slip case. If your child already has a Chromebook you can buy a new hard case for it.

If you are interested in either a new Chromebook or a hard protective case, please express your interest on this Google form.
