The tutor groups in the school belong to one of four Houses. These provide a broader source of identity for students, enhance achievement and increase motivation. Inter-house competitions fuel a friendly rivalry that leads each year to the awarding of the house trophy.
The trophy is competed for through points gained for a wide range of performance indicators and extra-curricular activities. Merits are awarded to pupils in their lessons and around school when pupils demonstrate the core values of TKA and these all contribute to the overall House points. In addition, throughout the year teachers run competitions where houses go head to head in activities ranging anywhere from photography to chess and basketball to music. Each of these contributes points towards the overall totals which decide the overall winning House.
Heads of Houses conduct regular assemblies with their House to promote the achievements of their pupils. In addition, each House has their own 6th Form House Leader who helps organise activities and events. Our house system gives us the benefit of smaller communities within our wider TKA family, providing a sense of camaraderie and healthy competition.
