Our Year 10 and 11 pupils enjoyed a visit from poet and author Dean Atta on National Poetry Day, Thursday 5th October. Dean spoke about why he became a writer and the influences behind his award-winning verse novel - a coming-of-age story about a boy called Michael who finally finds a way to express himself through drag with a persona called the 'Black Flamingo'. It is a funny, poignant and beautifully crafted book.
