Head Teacher's Welcome

Welcome to The Kingston Academy from our Head Teacher

CaptureIt is my great honour as Head Teacher to welcome you to The Kingston Academy.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of our school, a milestone that highlights a decade of growth and achievement since we first opened our doors in 2015. TKA is now a vibrant community of around 1200 pupils and 170 staff across all year groups, including those in our thriving Sixth Form.

Founded by Kingston Educational Trust, which unites Kingston University, Kingston College, and the Royal Borough of Kingston, we benefit from an exceptional pool of experience and expertise in education. This partnership enriches our programs and supports our commitment, as a fully inclusive school, to fostering the ambitions of every student.

Our dedication to excellence was clearly demonstrated in the summer of 2022 when our pupils achieved remarkable results in their first public examinations. Building on this success, our academic performance has continued to soar. In 2024, we proudly achieved a Progress 8 score of +1.1 at GCSE, placing us amongst the top schools nationally. Our students excelled with an impressive average grade of 6.17 across their best eight subjects. This year’s A-Level results were equally outstanding, with students securing places at some of the UK's most prestigious universities, including Oxford and Cambridge.

Our results rank us amongst the very top performing non-selective schools in the country

As your Head Teacher, I am committed to providing your child with an outstanding education that nurtures their talents and prepares them for success in the wider world beyond school.

From The Head of School

CaptureAs Head of School, I am responsible for the day-to-day leadership at TKA, and part of my role is to ensure that our values of ‘Community Character Ambition’ permeate school life.

Our inclusive and happy community fosters a sense of belonging. By feeling known, safe and supported, we believe that students can thrive and make the most of all of the opportunities available at TKA. We all take an active role in contributing to our calm and friendly community, and through our attitudes of being ‘Ready Respectful Safe’, we aim for our students to make a positive contribution locally and in the wider community.

At TKA we prioritise the development of character by celebrating individuality and uniqueness, instilling confidence in every individual to be themselves. We embrace our differences, and believe in the strength of a diverse and inclusive community. We also nurture character skills such as resilience and the ability to cope with challenging circumstances that students will inevitably face in the future. Our strong pastoral care systems promote proactive wellbeing practices so that all students are able to receive support when needed.

We hold high ambitions for every child, recognising that success is a uniquely defined journey for each individual. In every classroom, we adapt our approach to appropriately challenge students. We take great pride in supporting each student's progress throughout their time at TKA. Our goal is to equip every student with the best possible qualifications, as well as with the essential attributes necessary to navigate the diverse challenges of the modern world and make a positive contribution to society.

I know that we can deliver a fantastic and memorable secondary school experience and help your child to achieve their full potential.
